Char Kway Teow

This is a popular noodle dish in Malaysia and Singapore.   Char is fried in Hokkien.  Kway Teow is flat noodles.    So Char Kway Teow is fried flat noodles.  Here they fried with bean sprouts, eggs, cockles, prawns, chives.  We had that for dinner at a hawker center.   So good!

Ice Kacang and Cendol

We had this at a street side stall.    They were better than the ones sold at malls.    So good and cooling on a hot afternoon.   Ice is ice.  Kacang is beans.  In this bowl, there were red beans.  Cendol is green jelly.   All of these in creamy coconut milk, topped with either palm sugar syrup.

Double Wedding on Malaysia National Day

31 August 2019 was the National Day of Malaysia.  It was therefore a public holiday.  We had the pleasure of witnessing the marriage ceremony of 2 couples, in Negeri Sembilan   Brother and his sister were marrying the same day.   One couple was dressed in blue and the other couple in white.

Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee

The restaurant is located at 117, 119 and 121, Jalan SS 21/37, Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.  We ordered Hokkien mee, Peking duck, Lalah clams and Chinese brocolli and lettuce.

The Peking duck was authentic.  So good!  The skin was crispy.  The inside was juicy.   And it was not oily!

Mozer's Cuisine was located at Bukit Jelutong, Selangor.  They served local Western and Arabic cuisine.   We ordered Hommous, Shish Kebah, Mixed Shawarma and Mendy Rice Chicken.

Pormtip Thai Restaurant

For a change in taste, we had Thai dinner.   This was at the ground floor, Jalan Dwitasik 1, Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras.  We ordered Tom Yam, Paku, Pineapple Rice and Otak-otak.

Huen Kee Claypot Chicken Rice

Lunch again.   This time we ate at Huen Kee Claypot Chicken Rice, 59 Jalan Yew, Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.   I didn't quite like it because there is a layer of burnt rice at the bottom the claypot and a little bit too salty for me.   We ordered one Chicken rice and one Pork rice.

Foong Foong Yong Tau Foo

Our lunch on a Sunday morning at this famous restaurant, Foong Foong Yong Tau Foo, 621 Jalan Merdeka, Kampong Baru Ampang, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.    Yong Tau Foo means stuffed beancurd in the Hakka dialect.

Kedai Kopi and Makan Seong Kee

Never missed having dim sum at this popular restaurant called Kedai Kopi and Makan Seong Kee, located at 74, Jalan Cerdas, Taman Connaught, Kuala Lumpur.   Always packed with people.  They only opened from 5:30 am to 2 pm.   By the time I decided to take a picture, we are almost done with eating our brunch!

This was so good.   Our dessert, after dinner.   Eating, at the roadside, with the cars passing was definitely not very healthy, but that was where this king of fruit were sold.   We wouldn't be coming here for a long long time so .......

I think I was attracted to these section of the market because all the plates are sold at 10 MRinggit each I think.   I can't remember.

Aunty Christina's Sarawak Laksa, Mee Kolok and Ngoh Hiang

After the visit to the Community Garden, Bangsar, we had breakfast at Aunty Christina's in Petaling Jaya.   It is famous for Sarawak Laksa.  Her mee kolok and ngoh hiang was good too.

Mee kolok is a traditional Sarawak dry noodle favourite dtossed with a savoury meat and shallots mixture and topped with fragrant fried onions and served with a meat stock.

Ngoh Hiang is 5-spice pork rolls.
