An Evening with Sha and Mag

Thursday, 6 August 2009

Thanks, Sha and Mag, for taking the time to meet up this evening. I am so glad we met and had our girly talks, in the absence of the other gender.

I think he is the most friendliest waiter I have encountered. He helped took the above picture of the 3 of us together and allow us to take picture of him as well.

Sunday Church Meeting Pictures for the Album

Sunday, 2 August 2009

Missionary-Sister McCurdy, ex-Missionary-Sister Lee, ex-Missionary-Sister Liew, Missionary-Sister Clark and Missionary Sister Russell

Why is it so hard to get a picture together? I think this is the only picture that the 4 of us took together. Maybe we should have gone to the photo studio????? Anyway I like this picture of us.

Indian Banana Leaf Rice & Chinese Mini Wok Noodles

Monday, 3 August 2009

Looks like Lian and Yean enjoy the Indian Banana Leaf Rice at Restoran Sri Paandi at Jalan 11/4, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Not bad for RM4.50 of unlimited refill of rice and vegetables plus gravy, ice-water.

My first time was in 2006 with Lian, Aunt Monica and Grand Uncle Ni. Grand Uncle Ni didn't take very much, unlike Aunt Monica who loves spicy food. I didn't order this time because my stomach has become sensitive to spicy food lately.

You can read more about this restaurant and see more images on this website - http://food.malaysiamostwanted.com/venues/sri-paandi-banana-leaf-rice-pj

When it comes to Chinese cooking like stir-fry, there is no other cooking ware than a wok for me, if I can have the choice. And being traditional Chinese, no wonder they come up with a miniature wok as a serving dish. This is what I ordered for dinner on this day - Mini Wok Seafood Noodles. It doesn't taste any difference to me from an ordinary plate but it was sure interesting eating from the mini wok.

Greenbox Karaoke

Tuesday, 28 July 2009

This was the other surprise for my birthday - Karaoke. Lian and Yean know that I enjoy visits to the zoo and that I enjoy singing as well.

First time to the Greenbox Karaoke and I really enjoyed it. We went for the lunch hour session which is from 10:00-14:00 which is RM10 per person this day (Tuesday). Saturday and Sunday lunch hour session would cost RM12.

The happy hours 13:00-18:00 is more expensive. The last session is the normal hours 18:00-till late which starts at RM30 for Mon-Thur and ends at RM42 for Saturday and Holiday Eve.

The charges are meant for food. There is no room charge and no tidbits charge. The lunch hour session is not entitled for tidbits.

Great place to go for lunch break or just a break from the busy routines - to meet your friends, have a meal and sing (good exercise for the lungs!)

The Wonder of Nature

Monday, 27 July 2009

They were there all the time but I didn't pay any attention until today - this unique plant at the Cheras Leisure Mall car park.

National Zoo (Kuala Lumpur) - 4 of 4

Monday, 27 July 2009

4th and last of the 4 postings of our visit to the National Zoo on this day.

Statues of the some of the animals

I think it is doe - female deer, I am not sure.

Flamingoes

It is interesting to watch the elephants.......

First, they were separated and then they move towards each other and ....... I think the right side elephant with the tusks is the male while the left side elephant is the female.

Together with another elephant, they walked towards the drain. The female one that I pictured earlier on stretched out her truck towards us. I guess because they know we have some food in our hands. Lian was the first one to let the elephants took the food from her hand, followed by Yean and finally me! I was initially scared. The male elephant took the food from my hand. Gently, with the tip of his trunk, he swept the chickpeas, that I had in my palm, into his trunk.

No more palms reaching out to them, so they slowly walked away

More giraffes

Time to go back. We had a wonderful 4 hours visit there! I really enjoyed the visit. Thanks Lian, Yean and Anges.

National Zoo (Kuala Lumpur) - 3 of 4

Monday, 27 July 2009

3rd of the 4 postings on our visiting to the National Zoo on this day.

To the Apes Centre......

It is so interesting to watch them.....

Orang Utan (direct translation - Forest People) - these great apes are native to Malaysia. They stretched out their hands to you if they see you have something to offer to them.

The Insect House

Jewel Beetles

Cicadas

Malayan Giant Scorpions (Heterometrus spinifer)

Tarantulas

Grasshoppers

Heliocopris - Scarab Bettles of Egypt. Looking at them reminded me of the "Mummy"

Phasmatodea - Stick Insects: With the leaves, I would have thought it was just a tree branch!

Butterflies

The toilet is not part of the insection building, but it is also painted to the colour of a ladybird.

National Zoo (Kuala Lumpur) - 2 of 4

Monday, 27 July 2009

2nd of the 4 Postings on our visit to the National Zoo this day.

Bearded Pig

Indian Gaur

Malayan Sun Bear also known as Honey Bear

Brown Bear

Red-legged Pademelon

Javan Deer

Goat

Tortoise or Land Turtles

Python Curtus or Blood Python

Monocellate Cobra

Reinwardt's Flying Frog: Amazingly how the picture turned out to be, showing clearly the frog, which looked to me having the same green colour as the leave. I didn't see it until the caretaker highlighted to me. The caretaker happened to be be attending to the case and he stopped me from reaching my hand towards the frog. The caretaker said that the frogs (there were others) in the case and they don't react when he is attending to the case - very interesting - they know him. The caretaker said that the frog would jump away if I reached out towards him and would shoot poison from its skin if I touch it.

This fellow was not in the exhibition building. A visitor pointed to us its presence. It was hanging from the the roof outside a window of the building! This bat does not belong to the zoo. It is free to fly anywhere.

Watching the giraffes and the camel - aren't they funny? I love Anges' smile.
